Enterprise solution design and delivery has been the focus of my career in the software industry. From leading pre-sales cycles to managing professional services teams, I’ve focused on revenue and quality, both for the customer, and the team.
-   Commercial Responsibilities
- During my tenure as Professional Services Director for EMEA I owned financial responsibility for my portfolio (BPM, Enterprise Capture, and EDRMS), continually meeting or exceeding my revenue target quarter on quarter. I drove revenue for my territory from zero to £1M in the first year.
-   Leadership
- I have genuine experience building and managing multi-disciplined, multi-location, multi-national teams across EMEA and APAC. Building consensus and resolving conflicting objectives has been a critical part of this experience. I am committed to team and personal development; I have always seen this as central to any successful venture.
-   Customer Success & Service
- Strong “C” and “E” level stakeholder management with both customers and partners. I’ve extensive knowledge of issue management and resolution within SLA tolerances. Ongoing mentoring, support and relationship development have featured heavily during my career, with an ethos of getting the customer the best outcome possible.
-   Pre-Sales
- As the technical lead in the end to end sales process I have gained significant knowledge in assisting organizations with the successful acquisition, implementation and deployment of enterprise platforms and solutions. For my entire career I’ve worked with sales and partners, during the RFx process, providing initial presentations, delivering proof-of-concept to the final and successful deployment of solutions.
-   Professional Services
- I have managed the complete engagement life cycle of large scale, multi-site, multi-regional, enterprise business solutions, from planning and architecture, to implementation and post go-live support. As a professional services engineer I worked both as part of a solution delivery team and on solo engagements. Grass roots coding and custom scripting for bespoke and made to measure solutions through the complete SDLC were core responsibilities.
-   Management Methodologies & Disciplines
- I have a solid understanding and experience of multiple management methodologies;
- Prince2 (certified) - Particularly in the public sector, I’ve worked within and delivered too frameworks that help ensure visibility and control.
- Agile Scrum - I’ve worked on multiple agile projects as a team member and in the role of scrum master, delivering shippable products that have met or exceed the product owners’ and customers’ expectations.
- Lean - The experience I’ve gained in working with customers to create lean solutions that focus on continuous improvement (Kaizen) and iterative development has given me a skill set to provide truly innovative solutions that genuinely help customer, and in one case enabled the UN WFP to put food on people’s tables.
- DevOps - Since the start of my career, the opening up of communications between functionally separate organisations and the consequential trust building has been the very key to success. This approach has meant that services delivery could be “continuous” in their life cycle. Whilst in the past, we did a lot of activities “by hand”, in more recent years this approach has been augmented by working with automation and governance systems and tools.
-   Training
- Throughout my time in the software industry (particularly at Autonomy) I have delivered both “off the shelf” and bespoke training courses. I also developed and managed the Business Process Management training team for EMEA and APAC for Autonomy.
-   Product Management
- I have continually worked with product management and product engineering to ensure that issues raised by customers and partners have been resolved appropriately as well as ensuring new product design, development and release that is in line with the market needs and expectations.
